About Shining Hours

Shining Hours Cover
These stories and poems are all from a late-19th century children’s reader titled Shining Hours. They are presented here with the hope that modern readers may find a little socio-historical perspective and unintentional humor within its quirky pages.

As found, the book was missing its cover and any information about author, publisher, copyright, etc. If you know anything about the people behind the creation of Shining Hours, please submit a comment below so due credit can be given.

New material is posted here semi-regularly, transcribed as faithfully as this medium will allow. To that end, anachronistic quirks of grammar and punctuation have been retained.

Enjoy and welcome!

I also have a copy of this book and it has a hard cover. The publisher and copyright are imprinted on this cover. The publisher is McLoughlin Brother New York copyright 1905. Do you have anymore information about this most intriguing reader? Thank you.
